England’s Green and Pleasant Land
It was so unbelievably beautiful on the Downs yesterday. It lifted the spirits to ‘over excited / slightly drunk’ (I wasn’t actually drunk, that would have been really bad). It was just lovely. I ducked into lanes and lay-bys and snipped ivy, blossom branches and budding leaves. I only took a tiny bit in each … Continue reading England’s Green and Pleasant Land
Poor man’s magnolia
Yesterday morning was spent indulging my urge to pull over in lay-bys and snip branches and buds (more to follow….!) These beauties are so like the shape and colour of magnolia. Not sure what the tree is but I await the leaves with excitement (sad but true). Continue reading Poor man’s magnolia

Vivienne Westwood meets Frida Kahlo
Now, this is really exciting…. The coolest chick I know is marrying her love this summer and we have dreamt up a stonking plan for the look of the thing. Her dress is the most beautiful thing I have seen in real life: Vivienne Westwood, printed with a Reubens painting. The flowers will be a … Continue reading Vivienne Westwood meets Frida Kahlo
My new silver jug and some old friends
Making the most of the dying days of the hellebores and a few other snips in my beautiful new jug. I’ll be sorry it’s full of flowers when it’s time for coffee in the morning…. Better get another one! Continue reading My new silver jug and some old friends
A lovely day for flowers
The marvellous Ms Marianne and I had a great time this morning at a bouquet workshop at Miss Mole’s Flower Emporium in Brighton. Miss Mole herself was absolutely lovely and the shop is so inspiring. What a way to spend a slightly hungover morning! I’ll be counting the days until the next workshop – check out … Continue reading A lovely day for flowers
Hellebore heaven
Needing some change for the parking meter, I found myself having to buy this pot of little beauties for by the front door. A necessary expenditure, you understand… I have allowed myself to snip a couple for inside and they really are exquisite. Such subtle colours and by now nearly transparent; lunar and stony. It … Continue reading Hellebore heaven
Stoneware
Unexpectedly beautiful (and scented!) dusky greeny pinky supermarket roses were the leading ladies in this arrangement, along with some hellebores snipped from a pot by the front door. I had a lovely time trying out a chicken-wire-in-pessle-and-morter arrangement, which worked pretty well if I say so myself. Very Spry. The roses were beautiful as they faded. … Continue reading Stoneware
Yellow and Grey
Inspired by the colours in this lovely tray and the desire to make the most of the mimosa…. I’m enjoying the super feminine twist on a masculine outfit. Continue reading Yellow and Grey
