I worked with a brilliantly creative bride this summer, an artist and fine art lecturer no less…. She had a beautiful vision for the wedding and we put together a loose, meadowy look for her flowers. It was an inspiring and collaborative process, which I LOVE. What’s not to like?
Working with creative people – clients, other florists, creative businesses – is at the heart of what I want from Byrd & Spry. It’s energising and it’s fun to share ideas and collaborate.
I have not experienced anything other than positivity and generosity from other florists – some mentors / awe-inspiring demigods and some building up their fabulous businesses as I am. Lotte and Bloom, Kat Flower, Quince, Miss Pickering, Ruby & The Wolf, Bloomingayles, The Blue Carrot, Amanda Taffinder, Ma Fleur. People who have shared their knowledge and skills and been happy to celebrate other people’s successes. Social media is nice for that…. One of the flower demigods Sarah Ryhanen of Saipua talks about all this touchy feely positive shizzle here. I like it.
So, Ellie and Rex’s fabulous East End wedding was stunning. It was stylish and relaxed with lovely details and some seriously fabulous frocks. I loved Ellie’s ideas, the colour palate and creative buzz of working with an artist. The professional photos are by Naomi Goggin, an incredible photographer who created light on a really rainy day. I worked on this one with my wildly over-qualified intern Audrey. Another awesome chick if ever there was one…. Here’s to creative and brilliant women!

So lovely of you Ella, and you got to work with my friend Naomi! her photos are amazing aren’t they.
