Honestly, what a laugh. Yes, there’s a lot of schlepping and you do seem to do most of the work in a state of bleary-eyed exhaustion but then you get to bung flowers into rooms like this….
…..a glorious townhouse on Portland Place in London. Regency splendour indeed.
The flowers were for the launch of Editorial Intelligence’s Names Not Numbers event. They wanted relaxed jars of flowers to suit the Suffolk location of their event next year.
….jars shown here on a taped-out line because it turns out I don’t have any surfaces long enough to figure out 210cm mantelpiece arrangements… tragic.
Round here, in late September, you’d be mad not to use local dahlias at every opportunity so I visited Richard and Hazel and their prize-winning flowers at Withypitts Dahlias. They supply New Covent Garden with those ridiculous flowers bigger than your head. Completely perfect.
At 29 Portland Place it was a botanical look with ferns, berries and white scabious for tables, bars and the two mantels. The scale is hard to show but those dahlia buggers are BIG…
The event organisers kindly gave me an advert in their programme which featured quotes from some of this summer’s gorgeous weddings:
When it was all over, I loaded the van and drove back through the night streets of London to deliver the left over flowers to Elmcroft Care Home where they were enjoyed for a few more days. Waste not want not…
Fabulous flowers, and what a gorgeous venue too. Really wonderful.
Thank you, Sue!
