Lovely opportunity this week…
Flowers for a really clever painter’s show on Redchurch Street in groovy old Shoreditch. A street so cool you can’t tell what the shops sell – I love it.
The only downside was shlepping my stuff back and forth past the lurking street style photographers without so much as a glance… ah well *sigh*
The show was To One in the Dark – really fantastic paintings by Jake Wood-Evans and Chris Kettle. My favourites were Jake’s portraits although sadly someone bought the Francis Bacon portrait I was planning to steal….
My brief was crumbling grandeur and light-through-the-darkness to complement the themes and imagery in the show. Jake had a lovely knackered old light fitting that was incorporated into the main arrangement. My idea was a stately home, filled with elegant flowers but collapsed and decaying. There were beautiful pristine orchids with thistles, ferns and creepy hanging amaranthus. There was wine and super-good people watching at the private view….
Ella, it all looked just right and drop dead gorgeous.
