At university there was a boy called Gustav who came from Cannes and lived a high life. Not needing any encouragement, I discovered that my favourite Champagne is Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque – it’s the one with the flowers on the bottle. Later, my husband and I had a magnum of it for the millennium New Year. Ah, those pre-credit crunch days of building up the debts, not paying them off….
Anyway. Makoto Azuma. The kind of floral designer who wears a lab coat and creates work for galleries and perfume ads. Clearly awesome. Lotte and Bloom posted about his work for Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque a while ago and then this video today via Brittany Asch. You could never say this isn’t art.
Awe inspiring, fascinating, maybe a bit cold somehow? A lot of the work is deliberately detached from the natural world. Maybe that’s why it interests me more than moves me…. it really does interest me though.
