On a glorious Friday (no work for me!), I rode along the coast path to Brighton to get some flowers for a birthday bouquet. I had a lovely time choosing in the heavenly Quince on Nile Street. The folks there used to run the flower concession at Liberty for years and they make the kind of flowing, wild, loose flowers I admire so much. We had a lovely chat about Saipua and she admired my bike so is clearly a woman of taste!
Later, on the way home, I picked a load of different plants off the beach, a few tangled fronds of clematis and some big old broccoli leaves off the allotment. Very Spry (I’m noticing there’s not been much opportunity for glamourous Byrd flowers – must rectify that with some fabulous occasions!).
So, I made birthday flowers for Annette, a lovely arrangement for home, a tiny one with the many, many clematis flowers that were facing the wrong bloody way (tangly stuff, clematis) and a corsage. The corsage is sitting by me as I write and I’m thinking what a pretty place setting it would make. Come round for dinner and I’ll do you one!
WOW! Stunning.
