Byrd and Spry are my invented flower muses. They represent different aspects of my flowers.
In my mind, Byrd is like Julianne Moore in A Single Man. She is glamourous, slightly slozzled, mid-century fabulousness.
Byrd flowers are decadent, elegant, glamourous and maybe a just little bit dishevelled.
We all know Constance Spry. She was whipping up arrangements from hedgerows, from grasses, seed heads, curly kale. She was passionate about flowers for anyone, not just those with money or a vast bed of sweet peas in their leafy suburban gardens.
She was English, bold, quit teaching to become a florist. These two are my muses. Are your flowers a bit Byrd or a bit Spry?
